Tucker Gates is in the building! We are pleased to announce that Tucker Gates has joined Ballentine Associates as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Fayetteville, Tucker moved to Charlotte to attend UNCC (go Niners!).
While at UNCC, Tucker completed a one-year co-op where he rotated through different areas of construction management. Tucker worked on bridges and large pipe projects, worked on-site at a wastewater treatment plant, and worked in project cost analysis and bidding with a focus on heavy civil estimating. Tucker also completed a 3 month structural engineering internship, conducting structural inspections for residential homes.
Tucker’s interest in engineering started in middle and high school when he joined Science Olympiad and participated in several building events. These experiences sparked Tucker’s passion for designing and problem-solving! Tucker says what he likes most about what he does is making a tangible impact on the built environment, and he enjoys the fact that many of the projects he works on can be visited in person, allowing him to see the results firsthand.
Tucker currently lives in Apex, and in his free time enjoys outdoor activities like rock climbing, running, hiking, skiing, and biking. He also loves spending time with his dog!
