Northwest Park

Services provided:

• Served as civil engineering & surveying sub consultant to Mullis Design Group Landscape Architects for 5-acre park site
• Conducted boundary & topographic surveys
• Site is an old spoil area created during construction of the adjacent subdivision
  • Significant soil-related and topographic challenges were overcome during the design
• Park program includes picnic shelter, playground, play field, walking trail loop with exercise stations, and parking lot
• Designed several innovative stormwater solutions:
  • Permeable pavement parking lot and permeable playground were designed as BMP’s
  • Disconnected impervious strategy employed to treat runoff from asphalt walking trail loop
  • Cistern utilized to capture portion of shelter roof and use for irrigation (detailed cistern design by MDG)
• Designed water and sewer services
• Services included construction documents, cost estimating, permitting, and construction admin
• Park opened in July 2016
• Park was awarded the 2017 EPA Region 4 Rain Catcher Award for the innovative stormwater solutions employed
