One common challenge with solar farm projects is the need to accurately identify the total amount of land disturbance that will be required for the project as early in the process as possible. The limit of disturbance (or LOD) must account for all land area that will be needed for the solar panels and internal access aisles, perimeter access roads, fencing, equipment, sediment basins/stormwater control measures, spoil areas, and substations. Since most solar farm projects include a tight timeframe and sitework permitting must be obtained as early in the process as possible, it is critical to understand these parameters and nail down the LOD as early as possible.
